NCW: Given Young Women and Girls a Voice

The National Council of Women are running a competition for young women aged 19 – 30 to speak out on the issues that matter to them. All you have to do is answer one questions in 750 words or less:

If you could influence Government to take some action to improve the lives of women, what would it be?

Prizes for the winner include: a chance to take your proposal to government, a trip to New York to attend the UN Commission on the Status of Women Conference. A one week internship with James White Drinks Ltd., A chance to interview the only female skipper of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2013-14 and more!

This is a fantastic opportunity for any young women so get your thinking caps on and get writing! The competition closes on the 12th of July. [Update: they’ve extended the closing date to the 31st of July]

If you’re interested in hearing more and getting some inside info, we’ll be publishing an interview with one of the judges – Shachi Shah. Shachi Shah is an investment professional, who was named Asset Management CEO of the Year at the Global Investor, Investment Excellence Awards in June 2012 and Winner of the 2012 Women and City Award for Finance. She is a social action entrepreneur and trustee of the charity Indiability. So stay tuned!
